This program belongs to the Library System of the Pontificia Universidad Católica, whose objective is to actively participate in the learning process of children and young people from across the country, through the creation of school libraries and spaces where cultural and academic activities are carried out aimed at students and their surroundings: families, teachers and reading mediators.
There are libraries in the five UC campuses, distributed in Santiago and Villarrica and in 16 other campuses through different formats: school libraries, mobile libraries and reading points. Among these places there are units in two internment centers of Sename, in the Santa María Eufrasia High School of the Santiago Women’s Penitentiary Center, and in two hospitable classrooms: the clinical hospital of the Universidad Católica in Marcoleta and in the Josefina Martínez Hospital in Puente Alto. In regions, we have spaces at the Las Cruces Coastal Marine Research Station (ECIM). In the towns of Aysén and Puerto Williams, at the Agrícola School in Valle de Elqui, at the Marista School of Alto Hospicio and, soon, at the Casona Isla de Pirque.
In September 2015, the doors of the Biblioteca Escolar Futuro were opened at the Las Cruces Coastal Marine Research Station (ECIM).
